Im 15 and 140 pounds and want to lose weight before christmas and new years because of parties and i just want to be a more healthy weight. I was thinking to eventually go down to 120 ish. if i was on a 1500 calorie diet, what exercises do i do? You need to do a lot of long duration cardiovascular training. Jogging or jumping rope is good if you are young. An elliptical or stationary bike would be better. You should use a heart rate monitor and work at about 65% of (220-age) for as long as you can as often as you can.

Are there any diet supplements that have worked for women?
I have been on a hard core 5 days a week work out plan for the past 9 months and have only lost 10 lbs. I am 26 -180 lbs – 5’9. I want to lose about 20-30 more pounds and I’m not sure what to do. Any advise would be appreciated!!

    • ANSWER:
The secret to successful fat loss is tracking. One reason people don’t lose is because it’s just oh so difficult to take time out of their busy life to type what they ate into their computer so they can see their caloric intake and macronutrient ratios. People want to lose fat but they want it to be easy, fun, and fast….lol. So, if you approach the matter of fat loss with a sincere desire to lose, you’ll do it. So, read on. Here’s how to be a winner and take control of your body composition.

Whether you want to gain weight, lose weight, add muscle, or maintain, you should use the same diet. In other words, everyone should be eating essentially the same macro nutrients (carbs, fats, protein), micro nutrients (vitamins, minerals, fiber, etc.) barring special health or medical considerations because we all have essentially the same physiognomy and there is only one version of peak health. Here is how we should all eat according to the US National Institute of Health who are among the best health professionals in the world and the people doctors listens to in the US.

      OPTIMAL INTAKE
Eat varied, wholesome, and high quality foods such that your daily caloric intake is about equal to your daily caloric burn while keeping your macro nutrient ratios at about 55/25/20 (%calories from carbs/fats/protein). Only slight changes should be made in the macro nutrient ratios to accommodate the extreme demands of special activities such as extreme athletics or inactivity due to illness.

Note: Here are the details in case you’re interested:

      http://health.gov/dietaryguidelines/2010.asp

      http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/nutrition.html

You get to make the food choices (no supplements without a doctor’s recommendation) based on your location, culture, available foods, personal preferences, personal resources, food allergies, etc. However, the words “varied”, “wholesome”, and “high quality” are important. And, you should consume your food in 4-6 daily meals with healthy snacks between such that you’re nourishing yourself every two hours when awake.

VARIED means a variety of foods including fruits, dairy, meats, vegetables, grains, nuts, etc.
WHOLESOME means as unprocessed, unrefined, nutritious as is practical.
HIGH QUALITY means using the best ingredients, the least contaminants or fillers or unnecessary chemicals, etc.

•FAT LOSS: If you want to lose fat, simply adjust your portion size (the amount you take in at meals and snacks) down such that your daily caloric intake is about equal to your BMR. You can calculate your BMR here —> http://www.calculator.net/bmr-calculator.html

•MAINTENANCE: If you want to maintain your weight just keep your portion size at a comfortable level which you can determine simply by weighing yourself once per week to ensure you’re close to your ideal body weight.

      TRACKING
Nutrient tracking is necessary to ensure you have the optimal caloric intake and macro nutrient balance. For most people, tracking is only required for fat loss because of the difficulty in cutting intake and nutrients while maintaining digestive and appetite satisfaction. Tracking makes it necessary to read labels, look up food nutrients, record data, plan meals and recipes, etc. And, as annoying as it may be to have to track, it is easier to do today than ever before with the help of website such as My Fitness Pal —> http://www.myfitnesspal.com . And, once the fat loss dieter reaches goal weight, tracking my be discontinued.

Here’s my intake and an example –> http://www.myfitnesspal.com/food/diary/clickmaster

      SUPPLEMENTS
Supplements should be avoided because they are not approved by the FDA, are virtually unregulated, do not have the protections afforded foods and drugs, are not recommended by the US National Institute of Health, do not require any testing, are often contaminated, may not even contain what the label says, usually contain cheap ingredients, are often over priced scams, have been known to be dangerous, and can have numerous adverse or unwanted side effects.

When you hear “Beachbody” you can stop listening (reading). Beachbody is a MLM pyramid Amway type scam which has a zillion losers thinking they can make money at home by selling products to people on the internet. They call themselves “coaches” but they’re really just kids and others who were dumb enough to fall for a scam designed to sell Product Partners, LLC junk like exercise DVDs, Shakeology crap supplements, rubber bands, etc.

      Good luck and good health!!

  6. QUESTION:
For the women: What would you do in this situation?
For purposes of this question, assume that there are four weight “ranges” – obese, overweight, normal, and underweight.

Suppose there is a 30 year old female who is married and has one young child. Between her freshman year of college until when she became pregnant, her weight had always been in the “lower half” of the overweight range. After she had her baby, she had little luck losing the “baby weight,” and managed to gain a few more pounds. Today, her weight is almost borderline between “overweight” and “obese.”

This woman has decided to start a diet and exercise regimen to lose weight. Her personal goal is to lose about 35 pounds, which would put her in the lower half of the “normal” weight range.

While her husband supports her plan to exercise more and lose weight, he believes that she doesn’t need to lose that much weight. He thinks that losing 20-25 pounds would be sufficient. If she lost 20 pounds, she would still be slightly overweight. If she lost 25 pounds, she would be on the borderline between “normal” and “overweight.”

She and her husband met while they were in collge, and he has always known her to be at least a little overweight. He think that she looks more attractive when she is curvy and voluptuous. He also thinks that even if she lost only 20-25 pounds, she would still be very healthy.

Imagine if you are the woman in this situation. What would you do?

    a. Stick with your personal goal and try to lose about 35 pounds.

    b. Make your husband happy and lose only 20-25 pounds.

    c. Compromise and lose about 28-30 pounds, which would put her in the upper half of the normal range.

[If this will assist in your decision, assume that they are undecided about having more kids, and if they do, it would probably be about 4 years before she gets pregnant again.]

[There is no right or wrong answer here. But if you want to increase your chances of getting 10 points for "Best Answer," provide some explanation to support your choice.]

need advice about my diet during pregnancy?
What kind of diet (not weight loss diet) would be best for a pregnant woman with severe morning sickness? I have lost 20 pounds in 3 months and am 14 weeks pregnant. I mostly have trouble eating breakfast, so I need a meal plan not including breakfast. I usually eat one to two meals a day and its commonly a turkey and cheese sandwich and either yogurt or fruit. I am afraid my baby isn’t getting enough nutrients because I haven’t been able to take me prenatal vitamins and keep them down. What should I be eating each day? A 7 day meal plan would be great. Nothing heavy on the stomach please..

    • ANSWER:
would try this workout. But at the same time you will be gaining muscule, losing inches and burning fat. So its awesome.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED: Two 5 pounds weights.
      * means one 5 pound weight in each hand.

If you don’t have two 5 pound weights try using water bottles full of water.

      Workout:
      Stretch
      *20 Bench Press x3
      20 squats x3
      *20 side arm lifts x3
      20 crunches x3
      20 push-ups x3
      *20 lunges x3
      20 leg lifts x3
      Walk for 30 mins
      Stretch

Stretching before your workout helps you not to pull a muscule during your workout.

Stretching after your workout helps you not be AS sore afterward.

I try to do this everyday, but I’m sure you would get results doing this only 2-4 days a week. I recomend everyday.

Eat 1500 calories a day and drink 8 glasses of water daily.

      You will tone up!

You can do it! i know you can!

You will be sore. and it will hurt but you can do it.

Don’t be scared to add more excercises of more reps.

      Hope this works for you!

  9. QUESTION:
    Diet Plan?!?
A woman was terribly overweight, so her doctor put her on a diet.

“I want you to eat regularly for 2 days, then skip a day, and repeat this procedure for 2 weeks. The next time I see you, you’ll have lost at least 5 pounds.”

When the woman returned, she shocked the doctor by losing nearly 20 pounds.

“Why, that’s amazing!” the doctor said, “Did you follow my instructions?”

The woman nodded. “I’ll tell you though, I thought I was going to drop dead that third day.”

    “From hunger, you mean?”

    “No, from skipping.”
Ok please star me if you like it.
    Thanks!

  10. QUESTION:
    Need a straightforward weight-loss and tone-up routine for a low-budget?
Ok, I’m not looking to lose 20 pounds in one month. That’s stupid. But all the research I’ve done and the professionals I’ve talked to don’t seem to have the answer to my question without trying to sign me up for something. I can’t afford a gym membership. Period. I used to be athletic (played soccer year-round up until sophomore year of college), but I had to quit sports because my regular life was sucking up all my time and energy…so it’s been a long time since I’ve been consistently active. The problem was that being athletic made me become…well, bulky. So I know good workout routines…for athletes. But honestly I’ve gained quite a bit of weight and lost tone so the excessive muscle mass has become sort of flabby. I know if I do the same old strength training and go running I can get in better shape. I had tried this about a year ago for 4 months straight back when I could afford a gym membership. However I didn’t lose weight, I gained it in more muscle. I don’t want to be a beefy short woman! I know that diet is also important. But again, who in their right mind (or with a sensible budget) can follow a day by day portioning menu??? I know what foods to eat, and I know that in order to lose weight you have to burn more calories than you consume without starving yourself and shutting your metabolism off. So I need some help to develop a 3-5 month exercise plan that can help me lose weight, become more lean, and remain interesting enough for me to keep up with it for that long or even forever that I can do at home. (I live in the city)

I work about 55 hours a week — and I’m on my feet the entire time. As a manager I endure a lot of stress and I’m certain that more exercise will also help with that. But I need to be able to stay alive at work too, if you get what I mean. it also means that my time frame is limited. Any suggestions as to what I can do or where I can find better help with this? Such as few a 30-60 minute routines that I can do alternatively for non-consecutive days? Details appreciated!
Mr. PH.D: So…do I swim in my bathtub? Or the Charles River? It’s November….just pointing that out, Doctor.

  11. QUESTION:
I am very close to my final weight goal, but I have a slight problem :(?
Alright, I am 25 years old, 5’2″, currently 122-123 pounds, nowhere near overweight.

My final weight goal will be around 115 pounds. I think it would be too hard on my body to aim for 110 lbs since I have hypothyroidism and cannot afford a gym, but I’ll do what I can. I lost 20 pounds since February.

I lost the weight by healthy eating, power-walking and some aerobics. It’s the best I can do without a gym so I power-walk for about an hour in my apartment hallway and use an Aerobics DVD.

Now, my only problem is that even though I see great results in the scale (the 20 lbs I lost) I am having a very hard time dropping a dress size.. I still wear the same size I wore 20 pounds ago. What can I do to lose a dress size?? Please note that I don’t have equipment and cannot afford a gym, so please recommend something that is easy to do at home.

Please don’t lecture me about calories and healthy eating because I know the whole drill. I eat healthier than anyone I know in my offline life.

Also, I am planning on getting pregnant by the end of the year.. it will be my first pregnancy, is it OK for a pregnant woman to be on a diet? Is she allowed to workout the same way she regularly does? I want to be able to only gain a minimum amount of weight.. is that medically healthy or even possible?? I don’t know much about these things, that’s why I’m asking.

    Thank you.
I forgot to mention that my workout routine is: 1 hr power walking + 20 mins aerobics, 6 times a week.

    • ANSWER:
You need to do muscle building exercise – squats, lunges, sit-ups, push-ups, burpees, etc. You may not go down a lot in *weight* but you will become slimmer and less flabby, which is what you want, right?

  12. QUESTION:
i want to lose weight. suggestions? I am a woman.?
i want to lose about 20 pounds in 6 months. at least 15. it will be especially hard with the holidays coming up. i want to be healthy in doing so though. i already have a good exercise plan, but my diet is not exactly healthy. i’ll eat a lot one day & the next i might only eat one meal. cause i’m just not hungry.. i can’t starve myself. it’s doesn’t work, & it wouldn’t be worth it if it did. any diet suggestions? maybe a weekly plan? what has worked for you?

  13. QUESTION:
Anorexics. How Do They Do It?
Hi, I have major issues with my body. Ever since I “became a woman” and got curves and gained some fat it has been bothering me ever since. I am 16, weight 143.6 pounds, and am 5’9″. I understand its the healthy weight, but models who are 5’11 weigh 110 pounds and they are totally fine. It’s been my dream for years to not have an ounce of fat on my body like i used to when i was in my early teens. I don’t want to become anorexic, but at the same time I don’t know what else to do. I am a strict vegan. I have a gluten allergen which keeps me away from white breads. I don’t drink coffee. I stay away from carbs a lot. My only problem i would say is that i eat too much fruit (organic), but that shouldnt keep me from losing weight too much. My mom is an excellent nutrition, and i have followed everything she says. I exersize throughout the day, using this plan called “muscle minutes” from my trainer, which consists of spreading resistance training throughout the day (EX: doing lunges while applying mascara or sit-ups while waiting for the curling ironto heat up). I finally gave upand started using these colon cleanse capsules that are really mild and dont use harsh chemicals. Nothing ever seems to work and id say im the healthiest 16 year old you have ever met. I dont want to become anorexic and throw up but i am desperate to lose 20 pounds. Please Help.

P.S. I really dont care about that acai berry diets and crap. Please dont be a smartass and comment rude things. Thanks

    • ANSWER:
Some people naturally weigh more than others. There are some models who are able to be healthy at only 110 pounds despite their height because of naturally high metabolisms, but for some people, weighing such a small amount would cause major health problems.
I am anorexic and now in recovery, and I have suffered many health consequences because of my eating disorder, including heart problems.
You are at a perfectly healthy weight right now, and I’m sure you look beautiful. An eating disorder causes your hair to fall out, your skin to become pale, and a generally malnourished, sickly appearance. I know from experience.
I’m glad that you don’t want to become anorexic, but I do understand how hard it is to eat healthy the way you are and not see the results you’re looking for. Please continue your healthy diet – it is so much better, emotionally and physically, than an eating disorder. You are already too obsessed with weight and food, in my opinion, and you need to be careful and take steps to prevent yourself from stepping over the line that separates healthy eating from an eating disorder.
Also, in my opinion, you can never eat too much fruit. Fruit is healthy, low-calorie and full of the vitamins and minerals you need.
You should keep in mind that muscle weighs more than fat, so as you exercise, you could be losing fat but gaining muscle, which would cause you to look thinner though your weight might remain the same.

  14. QUESTION:
I want to lose 70-100 pounds…will this plan work?
Okay, first off, I know my plan isn’t exactly the ideal…I know enough to design myself a workout plan if my goals were simply to “get in shape”, i.e., lose fat and increase muscle mass.

I want to lose 70 lbs or more so that I can offset my size. I’m 6’3″, probably about 245, and I totally hate it. I don’t care if some guys would like to be taller/bigger or if some women like big guys….hearing that it’s a good thing only makes me feel worse. Hence, I’ve been trying to create the right diet/workout plan for my specific goals, which are to lose my chest and shoulders and lose as much size (not just fat) that I can.

I’ll be playing my nutrition by ear since I obviously cannot make it long-term if I’m dying of hunger. For the first, I’d like to attempt 1000 calories a day, balanced, erring somewhat on the side of more protein, less carbs (I know I can’t quit carbs entirely…most of mine will come from fruit or whole wheat).

As for workouts, I’m considering two 40-minute sessions of cardio a day (20 minutes on each machine – at least one session per day will be on treadmill.

Of course, if this gets too insurmountable, I will alter things, but I would like to try this once and for all to see if I really can lose enough size so I won’t always be seen as big.

    • ANSWER:
Realistically you are not going to lose that much weight and be healthy or attractive at 6F3I and 170 you will be WAY too skinny.

1000 calories a day is starvation and your body will hold onto fat and start canablizing your organs.

The problem isn’t your body it is your lack of self confidence.

  15. QUESTION:
    3-2-1 Slimfast Diet YOUNG WOMEN!?
    I bought a 24 pack, Im about 20 pounds overweight (im 5’2” 150)

I dont plan on using it forever, I plan on using it as a jumpstart for me eating healthier.

I will work out 3 times a week (cardio and muscle training)

And eat only healthy things that will help me keep this habit up after. I also like to drink plenty of water. Will this help me lose weight, or get a healthier body shape? I started eating healthy as well =)

    • ANSWER:
It has the reputation of being quite successful.
And surprisingly enough many did not regain the lost weight.

  16. QUESTION:
Which diet plan do you think works better?
Ok….well I am 18. I have lost a total of about 45-48 lbs. I was about 206, and I am now about 158. (At least I was a few months ago) I worked out like crazy for about a year…and lost all of that weight. Now, for the past year I have not lost a pound. Now realistically, I have not worked out as hard and I am not watching what I am eating as well. But hey, I started college and got a job. Stress happens! Now I am just working and by the time I start school again the Fall, I want to have the last 20 pounds off. I am the type of person that likes to eat, I look forward to it and I enjoy it.

I am not really a person who eats fast food that often. In fact, tonight I went to McDonald’s and got a burger and fries…only ate half and only ate a few fries and even now I feel sick to my stomach!

So my question is for women and men who have tried them…in your opinion which works better…the slim fast diet OR the special K diet?

The only reason I am leaning towards the special k diet more is because this one allows you to eat more….but I am open to whatever actually works better! Thanks so much, I appreciate it!

  17. QUESTION:
Need a good diet & exercise plan online?
I’ve gained alot of weight this past year… about 40 pounds!! I’ve come to learn now that alot of it has to do with stress, depression, etc.

I’m in my 40′s and I realize it may be more difficult for a woman my age to lose weight. However, I am determined.

I’m looking for suggestions on a good at-home exercise program via the Internet that’s accompanied by a reasonable diet. At my age, I need to watch what I eat more closely.. I’ve been in a relationship for the past 2 years after being single for over 20 years, and we end up eating out alot, which I don’t like!

I just made the transition of renting a room to renting an apartment (finally) and am ready to start a diet & exercise plan online. Any suggestions???

    Thx~!

    • ANSWER:
The key to starting an exercise routine is to make the changes slowly. You can’t go from being sedentary to active overnight and hope to succeed. Start out by exercising 1-2 times per week and eventually moving up to 3-5 times per week. Only increase the amount of exercise you do per week when you feel ready.

Exercise routines also have to be well rounded to be successful. You need elements of flexibility, cardiovascular and strength training. You don’t need to go to the gym to get a good workout, but having access to that type of equipment is a definite plus. Flexibility isn’t very intensive and can be done on most if not all days of the week. It won’t directly help you with your goals but it will lead to better performance – it will make exercising a lot easier.

Cardio should be done 3-5 times per week while strength training should be done 2-3 times per week. The more weight you want to lose, the more you need to exercise. 21. QUESTION:
Question for ALL Girls/Women (PLEASE Answer)?
Please take your time to read this. You don’t understand how big of a help a kind response would be.

How can I say this? I was just wondering if there are any girls that’d be interested in me and the person I am. I’m about to turn 19, I’m headed to college this Fall and I’ve yet to go as far as even kissing a girl. I’m perhaps not even comfortable touching a girl that I’d be interested in. As in…hugging a girl would be a special thing for me. The funny thing is, I’ve been complemented many times on my looks and yet I’m not too good with girls.

Well, I had a bit of a problem with self-esteem all throughout high school. I’ve basically looked at every girl (every girl) and thought “She wouldn’t even consider hanging with me”. The first two years of high school, I was overweight. Before my Junior year, I decided I was tired of being fat so I vigorously ran miles each and every day during the summer. Early on, when I started running, I fought through hearing a truck driver drive by and say “Look at that fat boy run…run, fat boy, run”. I’d love to see him again because after two months of running during that summer two years ago I lost 60 pounds. I made sure I didn’t do anything unhealthy. I went from 210 to 160 off of a lot of exercise and a healthy diet. I’m currently 5’8” and 170 pounds after adding some muscle.

Although, even after weight loss I’ve always thought myself as unattractive. I somehow was elected to be on homecoming court this year, if that means anything. I have the ability to run a 20 minute 3 mile and a 5 and a half minute mile so I’m in decent shape. I had a college girl at work tell me she was surprised I’ve done nothing with a girl because she thought I was a jock who probably hooked up with a whole bunch of girls. I also had a coworker, who’s also in college and has a pretty active sex life, tell me that he’d rather have my body to get girls. I guess I’ve told myself I’m unattractive so many times that I literally can’t get my mind to believe I may be good looking.

So I’m shy…but I’ve been working on gaining more confidence. As a person, it’d be hard for me to ever get angry at anyone because, as weird as this sounds, I love everyone…at least until they lose my respect by hurting someone else who doesn’t deserve to be hurt. I’ve been told I may be too nice.

I respect girls in every way possible. If a girl ever did find me to be special, I’d treat her like an angel (as lame as that may sound to some of you, I don’t know of a better way to say it…). I’d never cheat, lie, or abuse the girl in anyway imaginable. While I love women and how beautiful they are, I don’t sit around with my buddies talking about a girl’s “assets” rudely. I’ve always planned on waiting until marriage to have sex as hard as that is to do. I think it’s important to focus on the love and not the lovemaking. Otherwise, I believe you’ll never find true love if you go around sleeping with a bunch of people and start judging others on how well they perform in the bedroom. I also refuse to drink or do any type of illegal drug because I don’t want to make the mistake of setting up my future family for a bad life or accidentally hurting a loved one.

Also, another thing, a lot of people have told me I’m very mature for my age and that I’m a hardworking individual who, as a young adult, already knows what I want to do with my life. I’ve worked five days a week while keeping A/B grades throughout the past year or so.

Ugh…so I don’t understand why no girl is interested in me when I try to always be kind, honest, respectful, and caring to everyone around me. I suppose I’m not always myself because I’m so shy.

Is it likely that a college girl will be more interested in me than a high school girl? I’m tired of feeling alone. I just want a girl to look up to me so I can try to be her everything.

I hope no one saw this as selfish. I know everyone else have problems that need fixing. I just want to make sure I’m doing right in life.

Please, if you have anything good to say about me, please do. I’m trying so hard to not get down on myself but sometimes “I slip up” and accidentally make the mistake of putting myself before others. I’m tired of the feeling. I want to help others and not focus on myself. I’d appreciate any kindness.

What do you girls think of me as a person? If you knew me, do you think you’d be interested in me?

    • ANSWER:
If I were single and knew you I would definitely be interested in you. You seem like a great guy. I’m surprised (from what you said) that you haven’t had a girlfriend. Yes, you will find more girls when you go to college. That’s how I found my sweetheart. High school relationships never last. A piece of advice, when you do meet someone special who is interested in you, don’t be afraid to touch her. Tell her your situation when the time is right, but don’t wait too long. A good person will help you through this. Like I’ve been “further” than my boyfriend and we have an agreement to where he tells me when he’s ready to move a step further rather than me just going ahead and doing it. If she respects you, she will do the same thing for you. Hope this helps and good luck!

P.S. You seem like a great guy…let people see who you really are and don’t be afraid. A lot of girls are looking for a guy like you!

I tried to cancel my training session after going 24 hours without any sleep and she told me to come in anyway

Then when I’m there she spent 20 minutes (about 20 dollars worth of my cash) telling me how stupid my diet was (a diet where I managed to lose 9 pounds in a week) and then I asked her if she had a diet planned out for me and she said no….

Then I asked her why she wanted to see me when I told her I could not do any exercise that day but could only take nutrition advice… if she did not have a diet planned out for me…

Then I told her I could only afford a diet of sandwhiches for this month because I spent a lot of money on books and she told me I can’t eat sandwhiches on a low carb diet.

Then she told me I was really making her angry by eating a low carb diet and she starts swearing in front of me.

I told her I would do her diet for 3 months and my diet for 3 months and she told me no that’s not good enough. She won’t help me at all unless I refuse to do my diet at all.

Then she invents a conversation taht she claims we had (a conversation that NEVER happened) and she strats putting words in my mouth…

I’m 25 but look like I’m 16 years old and woman are always trying to take advantage of me and exploit me because they think I’m stupid, vulnerable, gullible and naive…

Do you think I can do it? Can you give me any advice on what else I can do, what I should change, and tips to help me lose weight faster, easier, or more efficiently?

    Thank you…..

    • ANSWER:
You might lose weight with soy now, but it will come back and bite you in the butt with health problems and probably weight gain, later. It will screw up your endocrine system, too. ONLY use naturally fermented soy, like organic soy sauce.

To lose weight the fastest with exercise:
rebound on trampoline or safe rebounder every day to detox you of toxins that cling to extra water weight – helps get rid of weight, toxins and cellulite, and tones EVERYTHING. More effective than running, and better on your joints.

Body wraps can help shift fat but you HAVE to be diligent to drink water and avoid fat, caffeine and sugar or the fat just re-deposits. Benefits: shifts toxins out, compresses tissue so it is firmer and smaller than before, now that the toxins and their buffering excess water weight have been transferred out. The cells actually “stick back together” closer than before.

Beware of too much cardio, it teaches your body to use and store fat effectively unless you diet brutally.

Use a program like Jorge Cruise’s 12-second sequence or Rob Poulos Fat Burning Furnace or Shapely Secrets intensive isometrics to really, really push your muscles. This will pump up your fat burning more than cardio, and it will pump it up all the time. If you do sit ups, please, please be kind to your neck. Do comprehensive workouts so you don’t get out of balance.

Your water plan and multiple meal plan usually works great for people at this stage of dieting, and your free day is highly recommended by many experts. To lose weight at a consistent pace, you’ll want to keep your calorie intake in check at each meal, while at the same time making sure you get plenty of calories each day to build muscle. Digestive enzymes will help prevent undigested material from pooching out your belly (soy inhibits digestion, and can slowly lead to a pooch. So do most whole grain products that are available today, because of the way they are prepared. Stick with sprouted whole grain breads to minimize this problem). Take high quality probiotics.

Do a metabolic typing test. Some people lose weight much, much easier when they eat according to their type. You can eat all the lean chicken you want, but if you need fatty lamb to balance your metabolism, you aren’t going to lose weight very easily eating lean chicken, and you’ll feel crappier than you need to, to boot. There are tests online, look for Dr. Wolcott’s, he’s one of the foremost guys in the field. Dr. Mercola is another resource that is available easily online. Or try your library or Amazon to get books to help you do this. Look for Wolcott’s book on Metabolic Typing, Mercola’s Total Health books, Rudolf Wiley’s Biobalance I and II.

  27. QUESTION:
Can’t drop the weight! Nutritionist needed BADLY!?
I am a 20 year old woman who exercises every single day. I ENJOY the gym, I go at least once, if not twice a day. I make sure to run for at least 20 minutes a day (30 is ideal, but sometimes lunch breaks only permit for 20). I also rollerblade outside, go for runs, lift weights, and try other ‘bikini body workout’ routines I find on the internet.

I have been this committed for an entire year come this August and my starting weight was 150 pounds. I have lost 3 pounds in ONE YEAR (I weigh 147 now). My body is toned, and I am fit and feel better, but I am still unhappy with my stomach and that number!! I want to weight 139 (I JUST want to be under 140!) I have tried ‘fad diets’ that help me drop to 143 but I think it is all water weight because I gain it ALL back.

I have to admit that I just CANT put away the junk food and ‘give in’ to cravings more often than not…chocolate is my biggest weakness.

Could someone give me a detailed diet or nutrition plan that will help my body lose those last few pounds and get me down to my goal weight of 139 pounds by September!!

    • ANSWER:
You are dead on about the water weight.

After working out for a year you have lost only 3 pounds, I would say that is perfectly natural. You have obviously gained muscle and it has counteracted any loss in fat, thus you didnt lose much weight.

But your goal was to lose fat and you did. So, you are toned, look better feel better, but this 139 pounds number is now the most important thing? It is possible, when you lose those last bits of fat, that you will never get there. You may, but you may not.

What I am tryig to say is.. stop looking at the scale, at this point it is no longer a good measure on how well you are doing.

Unfortunately, to get rid of those last stubborn bits of fat the junkfood must go.

No sugars, or starches, bad fats and Low carbs is really the key. All of these items convert to energy very quickly and will be burned first before your fat. By eliminating them, your body will focus on your fat and then those last stubborn bits will dissappear.

Focus on protiens, good fats (nuts avacados), vegies, fruit and dairy to about 1400-1500 calories in a day and you will see results.

  28. QUESTION:
    Blood pressure and test results?
Something strange happened to me today. I found out on March 20th that I had high blood pressure today is March 24 and I have lost 13 pounds already. I was so scared with the fact that the EKG might has shown left side heart problems. I went for my Echocardiogram today no results yet. But the big deal was when I went to my Well Woman Exam today they took my blood pressure and it was 94/68 I was really scared in fear that maybe my doctor put me on Bp meds to soon as he didn’t even evaluate me for a few days and monitor my BP he just immediatley put me on meds for a BP of 140/100. Now I have to say that I do feel 100% better than I did prior to taking the meds but not to sure if I really need them or not and I am worried that my BP may drop to low while I am sleeping as I know it goes lower while you sleep at night. I don’t want to die from these pills. And my BP has always been on the lower side of normal my whole life. Even up to about 3 months ago it was reading at like 118/76 and numbers like that sometimes even lower. So not sure what is going on. What is your opinion I mean I know you can’t diagnose me but I am thinking that maybe the 13 pounds of weight changed somehting.. I have read that even 10 pounds can make a difference.. But I also have reduced my sodium intake very drastically and I am eating 1000 calories a day with nothing but lean meats, fruit and veggies and nothing but water for my drink absolutely nothing but water and getting in my 118 ozs per day as my weight now is 241 and I am 5 ft 6.. I plan on maintaing the diet until I am at least 150.. I know I can do it. Just not sure I want to be on these meds.. And not sure that my doc is making the best choice. Thanks for you help. By the way I am only taking 5mg of Amlodipine or Norvasc I think is he name brand 1 time daily.

    • ANSWER:
70 lbs? I think getting down to 200 would be absolutely perfect. 1000 calories a day seems a bit extreme; by eating 1500 or so a day, that will become your new life habit as opposed to just a crazy diet. By the summer you should have lost all the weight you want to lose – but don’t try to lose 100 (145 lbs and 6’3″? YUCK!)
